Our team here at Valenti Volkswagen of Mystic in Mystic, Ct has a goal to help drivers get the most out of their vehicles. Do you have an off-road vehicle or truck with four-wheel drive? If so, read on to find out when you should use 4H and when you should use 4L.

4L is a setting that's best for when the road conditions are tricky. When you're in 4L, your car gets more torque for enhanced capability. This setting may be suitable if you're powering through thick mud, driving on extremely slippery surfaces, or driving through deep water. Be sure that you drive very slowly when you're in 4L since your vehicle is putting out more torque.

4H (4-High) lets you drive faster than 4L. When you're using 4H, you can drive up to 55 mph. This setting is designed to allow you to travel at faster speeds while sending adequate torque to all four wheels.
