Testing Your Car Battery

As cold months begin or end, batteries tend to take a beating. It's important to keep your battery in peak working condition so as to not end up stranded on a cold night in a parking lot. There are many ways to make sure your battery is running strong. One of those ways is by using a voltmeter.

Using a voltmeter is relativity easy. First, you want to make sure your engine is off. Using jumper cables, connect the positive link of the voltmeter to your battery positive terminal. Connect the negative sides to the voltmeter and your battery terminal. If your battery is below 12.2+ and below 50% charge, it's time to replace.

If you find your battery is at its end, or you'd like us to test it for you, bring it into Valenti Volkswagen of Mystic at any time. Our friendly staff will help with all your battery needs.
